The shift leader is responsible for supervising the staff on the designated shift. He is responsible for ensuring that staff is held accountable for tardiness and violations of company policy. He has a duty to report to management any infractions that occur while on his shift. In most cases, the shift manager has the authority to send employees home who violate work rules and company policy. The shift manager is also responsible for ensuring employees on the shift are practicing safe work habits. He must be abreast in emergency protocols and fire escape plans.
