You are responsible to support the hostel strategy across the operational departments under the leadership of the Hostel Manager. Ensure all activities relevant to the guest contact points such as check in / out, rooming of all Hostel guests, assisting in their quest for information on our neighborhoods & the destination we are in is executed every day by the hostel team. You & your team must multi-task in to our food & beverage outlets, and lead activity programs with our guests. You are a Scout Leader, a Senior Guide and a senior leader of our Neighborhood. You will help guests connect to other guests using our various concepts in the common areas. Support the day-to-day operation and interaction with the corporate team will also ensure the ultimate success of the operation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Winning Formula
# Ensure our guests are welcomed to the world of Lubd, and the neighborhood.
# Drive check-in / check-out, and that the team share information of facilities & activities with the goal of always creating a positive impression.
# Trainer for the PMS system ensuring it is fully utilized for guest needs & reports.
# F&B must be creative, popular and driven by your team throughout the day & evening, served consistently per guest needs. Ensure recipes are followed, and served per standards.
# Manage the common area, both in terms of appearance & cleanliness, also ensuring food and beverage displays are full and re-stocked as required, and the team is clearing tables.
# Help create, make, lead & participate with our guests in the activities we offer, giving them another reason to love our hostel. You must drive this as the manager and constantly come up with new ideas for the activity programs.
# You are a scout leader. Know the neighborhoods & the location where we play better than your team. You must share your knowledge experience with our guests and your team.
# Lead guest interaction relating to guest- s complaints, inquiries and requests. Listen to their feedback and follow up with urgency & care, making sure we delight the guest with a quick response. Use the tools given to raise all the relevant information.
# Multi-tasking is our culture, offering support throughout the hostel. Nobody is fixed to one task and you must the team constantly adapts to the needs & demands of our guests.
# As the leader you must approach guests often, and your team must do the same. You must also be the matchmaker, creating moments, activities where you can link guests with other guests.
# Support & implement all corporate programs and guidelines throughout the year.
# You must set up a culture of empowerment for your hosts to effectively solve problems.
# Work areas are kept clean, in an orderly state, and ensure the team follow this requirement.

Means to success
# Having a positive attitude towards work. Be self-disciplined self-motivated, and a hands on manager. Always willing to lead as an example for multi-tasking to support guest needs & operation.
# Participate in the scheduling of the team, ensuring common areas are covered as required.
# You must be flexible in your own schedule, rotating yourself on evenings, mornings and over weekends. You do not have a fixed schedule.
# Control expenses without reducing quality or service and by conducting cost awareness among to members & efficient purchasing.

Administrative Duties
# Ensure the team complete all reports, fill in daily log reports, handover all information to the next shift and to notify you of any issues.
# Ensure that the night shift follow procedures / checklists, review night reports, and make sure they have set up the am shift for arrival / checkout.
# Support weekly inspections and ensure facilities are kept in optimal condition by implementation of preventive maintenance programs, and strong planning and management of FF&E, as directed.
# Support the Strategic Plan, Business Plan, Budget, Goals & Incentive Program to ensure on an on-going basis optimum guest satisfaction, sales potential, team retention and profitability.
# Look for present and future trends / practices in the hostel industry and share with your manager. Support competitive programs as directed.
# Ensure emergency procedures are practiced and enforced to provide maximum security and safety for guests and team members.
# Support the management of department revenues and costs & performance against budget.

Knowledge & Performance
# Guide the team to be honest, friendly, genuine & caring professional relationships with our guests.
# Ensure your team has up to date information at all times regarding the hostel, relevant activities in the hostel, promotions & specials and local neighbourhood events to share with guests.
# You are to manage incentive programs with the hostel manager for the team all year.
# You must create & support training programs around the various SOP- s for your team members position and other guest relevant training.

Commercial Action
# Ensure the team has thorough knowledge of the room types sold, the food & beverage products we sell, along with any other commercial products that drive revenue to the business. It is your responsibility to maximise these revenues and ensure the team achieves this.
# Assist to increase the profitability and awareness of the Hostel through your actions and teams.
# Be an ambassador for the Lub d brand, in and out of work, promoting the positive reputation of the brand & when using social media on Lub d.

Human Resource needs
# Support some of the personnel function of the hostel including recruitment, on boarding, coaching, counselling, training, discipline, and succession planning.
# Maintains effective internal communications including Host meetings to ensure optimum teamwork and productivity.
# Be supportive, encouraging, a mentor and guide to all your team members, resulting in effective employee relations and a positive working relationship amongst team members.
# Ensure the rules & regulations as stipulated by human resources around uniforms, personal hygiene & appearance are enforced and council team members if they do not follow.
# Ensure discipline in the work place, that appropriate language, and a positive attitude with guests is constant and the team keep their relationship with guests professional.

Relations
# Report directly overall to the Hostel Manager
# All department of the Hostel and the corporate team must work in harmony, ensuring information is shared freely and timely.

Extra Help at times
#You and your team must be flexible and willing to fill in any areas where needed to help in an emergency or difficult circumstances & assigned accordingly.
