Senior Chief Engineer

Candidate Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field
- A Master's degree or certification in Project Management or Business Administration is a plus
- Possession of a professional Engineering licence is an advantage
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years experience in maintenance of building systems within large scale facilities
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams
- Proven experience in coordinating maintenance or construction projects
- Familiarity with school infrastructure systems
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems

Skills:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, empathetic, approachable and a role model for team members
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management abilities
- Proficiency in project management tools and maintenance software
- Budgeting and procurement knowledge
- Ability to work in varied conditions, including outdoor and confined spaces

- Fluent in English (speaking and reading)

Certifications (Optional but desirable):
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- Facilities Management Professional (FMP) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
- OSHA or other safety training certifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g. HVAC, Electrical etc.)

Position Summary:
The Senior Chief Engineer at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok is responsible to the Operations and Safety Manager and is the primary point of contact for the schools physical infrastructure and mechanical systems.
Leading a team of 20+ skilled technicians, engineers and handymen, the Senior Chief Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining the schools facilities, including HVAC, Emergency and BMS systems, in addition to electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, fire alarm, telecoms, swimming pool and general facilities maintenance. Working closely with the Operations and Safety Manager, external associated third parties and through effective control of contractors, this role ensures that the school campus remains safe, functional and compliant with relevant regulations, whilst minimising disruption to the school day.

Responsibilities:
The Senior Chief Engineer will:
Facility Maintenance and Operations:
- Oversee daily operations of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), emergency, plumbing, electrical, telecoms and water treatment systems
- Schedule and supervise routine maintenance and emergency repairs;
- Ensure all work and jobs are completed to a high standard of workmanship and according to specification
- Ensure timely, authorised and controlled purchases of services, equipment and materials, including full stock control
- Ensure all systems operate efficiently and safely

Team Leadership:
- Supervise and manage engineering staff, maintenance staff, supervisors and contractors
- Delegate and control work and jobs effectively
- Provide training and guidance to personnel
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage staffing needs

Project Management:
- Plan and execute maintenance and infrastructure projects, facility upgrades and renovations
- Coordinate with school administration and external vendors
- Manage budgets, scheduling and reporting

Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and building regulations
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments
- Maintain documentation for audits and inspections

Collaboration:
- Work closely with school leadership, custodial teams and external third parties
- Support school events and activities requiring engineering input
